We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a fully remote, production-focused role. Your Opportunity

The role is remote and open to qualified candidates located anywhere in the U.S. Travel is limited and generally project-specific (approximately 4–6 times per year).

While the role is primarily production-focused, opportunities for expanded responsibility—including project management, technical leadership on select projects, and staff coaching—may develop over time based on individual strengths, interests, and project needs.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical system design and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a range of project types.

  • Apply firm standards, applicable codes, and best practices to produce high-quality, consistent deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, including electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology disciplines.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of department standards and processes.
  • Support project teams nationwide on fully remote projects where in-person presence is not required.
  • Collaborate with project managers to meet schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • As appropriate, serve as a project engineer or project manager on select projects, depending on experience and fit.

Mentorship and Collaboration
  • Provide informal technical support and coaching to younger staff as project needs arise.
  • Participate in departmental activities such as standards development, QA/QC initiatives, and technical discussions.
  • Remain actively engaged with the mechanical department and broader firm culture despite remote location.

Tools and Technologies
  • REVIT, Design Master, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam for design and documentation
  • Energy modeling and compliance tools such as COMcheck
  • Ajera and internal project tracking tools (training provided as needed)

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience strongly considered; candidates with 5–10 years of relevant experience will also be evaluated based on capability and fit
  • Proven experience producing construction documents in the AEC industry
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. building codes, standards, and common mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while remaining responsive and collaborative
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • FE and/or PE licensure is preferred but not required for this role.

Benefits Summary

  • Collaborative, growth-oriented culture where your contributions are recognized and rewarded
