The Challenge

This rapidly expanding community needed a new fire station to improve response time—and envisioned a building that could serve multiple purposes. In addition to operating as an active fire station, the facility houses the department’s headquarters along with multipurpose space for training, certification and events.

KEDbluestone Solution

In many fire stations, heat escapes when the bay doors open and close. To keep the space comfortable for visitors and staff—and to keep building heating and truck maintenance costs down—we put in a hot-water radiant heating system under the floor. We also installed a vehicle exhaust system featuring CO2 detectors and dedicated exhaust fans to help enhance safety. Other solutions included a state-of-the-art station-wide alert system, high-end IT platform with video conferencing capabilities and stand-by emergency generation.
