A linear accelerator, or LINAC, delivers external beam radiation treatments to cancer patients. OSF needed to relocate a LINAC to a space inside an existing commercial building that was near other healthcare facilities and easily accessible to patients. Unfortunately, this space was not built to house the equipment or handle its power demands. A tight schedule required coordination across all disciplines from start to finish.
Our prior experience relocating a LINAC helped ensure the project ran smoothly and allowed us to move the equipment without the manufacturer’s assistance — saving time and cost. We designed new ductwork, upgraded the electrical service to meet energy demands, created a separate fire protection system for safety and replaced the existing rooftop air handling units with a variable air volume (VAV) system for greater comfort, efficiency and remote control.
