Designing a New Dialysis Treatment Center
THE CHALLENGE The Proctor Professional Building needed to renovate its existing basement space into a new dialysis treatment center. The ceiling height brought challenges, as
Gibson Area Hospital and Health needed to add a medical office building (MOB) on to its existing building in order to better serve its community’s needs. Although the MOB would be attached to the hospital, it was to be designed with entirely new, separate MEP/FP systems. The MOB needed to house many different departments and services, so the system designs needed to accommodate the specific needs of each space.
We created thoughtful system designs, ensuring our systems would accommodate the various needs of each space. The MOB systems were designed separate of the hospital’s systems, allowing the two buildings to operate independently of one another. As a result of the project, Gibson Area Hospital and Health now has a fully functional medical office building that offers offices of general surgery and orthopedic surgery; services of physical, occupational, and speech therapy, a new infusion center, and a cardiology department, as well as comfort and convenience for their patients.
