Designing a New Dialysis Treatment Center
THE CHALLENGE The Proctor Professional Building needed to renovate its existing basement space into a new dialysis treatment center. The ceiling height brought challenges, as
The air handler that was previously serving the ISU Student Accounts building was antiquated and needed replacement. It was also suspended horizontally from the ceiling, making past maintenance needs difficult. Also, the new air handler would need to be tied into the existing ductwork and VAV boxes, as the rest of the system did not need replacement.
We designed a new semi-custom air handling unit (AHU) with a BAS-ready package so that it would seamlessly tie into the existing temperature control system. We relocated it to the floor-level to allow for easy maintenance for ISU personnel. We rebalanced the existing VAV boxes to the new air flows, ensuring proper levels of temperature and humidity. We upgraded to DDC controls for more precise control over the system. The Student Accounts Building now has new, state-of-the-art HVAC system that will allow for comfortable temperatures all year-round.
