The Challenge

Millikin University’s softball program never had a dedicated field of its own, resulting in practice and game scheduling conflicts. After receiving a generous donation from an alum, the school had enough funding to build a new softball complex. The school asked that the complex include a softball field with artificial turf, dugouts, concessions, locker rooms, restrooms, a press box, and a parking lot. The facility also needed sport site lighting and controls that would accommodate the collegiate level of play.

KEDbluestone Solution

We designed the MEP systems for the complex, including the design of the 1,935 square foot building that would house the concessions, locker rooms, restrooms, and press box. We paid special attention to the lighting systems, ensuring the field lighting placement, lighting levels, and brand choices would properly accommodate the collegiate softball team’s needs. As a result, Millikin University’s Softball program now has a state-of-the-art sports complex that is a permanent, dedicated home for their program, as well as a new appeal for prospective student athletes, and upgraded facilities.
