The Challenge

Millikin University’s existing football stadium was in need of renovation. The stadium featured a grass field, making it more susceptible to flooding and mud, often resulting in canceled games. The scoreboard was analog and outdated, and the stadium did not have site lighting, preventing night games.

KEDbluestone Solution

We designed the new electrical systems to include a digital scoreboard with video replay capabilities, a track sports scoring system, site lighting, sports lighting controls, and an electrical distribution system. The new lighting design ensured that the field would be well-lit at night, allowing the school to begin scheduling night games again, after an 86-year hiatus due to insufficient lighting. The grass field was replaced with artificial turf, providing a consistent playing surface for games and practices. As a result, Millikin University now has a state-of-the-art football stadium, to improve conditions for current athletes, help recruiting efforts, and create an appealing game experience for students and community attendees.
