The Challenge

The Cornerstone Building, built in 1889, served as a church, among other things, until it was most recently purchased with the intent to convert it into a microbrewery. The client hoped to preserve the original architecture, while modernizing the systems to support a restaurant and brewery. The building’s unique historical charm added complexity to the system designs. The building’s age, traditional high ceilings, and architectural features presented unique design challenges. Also, the distillery equipment required specialized system design, as did the specialty lighting.

KEDbluestone Solution

The specialized lighting design allowed for the inclusion of chandeliers, keeping with the building’s aesthetic. We designed all new systems to support the specialized, distillery equipment and restaurant needs without compromising the building’s existing architecture. As a result, the microbrewery and restaurant are now fully operational, giving new life to a historical landmark, and providing new visitors and business to the area.
