As part of a previous facility assessment, we recommended replacing the school’s chillers. When the district acquired the necessary funding, replacement had to wait until fall to avoid losing air conditioning during the summer months. Completing the work while school was in session required careful timing and analysis of weather conditions.
The previous system lacked redundancy, and when a chiller failed, temperature and humidity would rise to uncomfortable levels. We increased the number of chillers from two to three, raising capacity by 50%, and partnered with a structural engineer to add the extra chiller to the roof safely. We also designed a new pumping system to ensure constant flow and installed a Spirotherm air separator to prevent air lock, both of which help ensure more stable performance and a more pleasant learning environment for students and staff.
