The owner was looking to build a new, larger oncology clinic. His building expansion goal was to provide space so patients could see multiple doctors in one building. The owner and his colleagues need- ed an efficient building with an economical design of multiple complex MEP/FP systems.
We designed the space to provide energy savings while incorporating cost savings strategies. The exterior of the building was constructed largely of glass making the design of the HVAC distribution system a challenge. We coordinated with the architect to reduce the mechanical load through glass selection. We concealed all the MEP/FP systems from public view to provide a clean look. A standby generator was included to assume the building load. The new space accommodates fire protection and plumbing systems. The result was a leading diagnostic and cancer treatment medical facility, all while creating a comfortable environment.
