Designing a New Dialysis Treatment Center

UnityPoint Health Pekin sought to condense multiple medical office buildings into one location in order to better serve the community. Creating a warm and inviting environment for the patient experience was the central goal of this project. With multiple providers,78 exam rooms, and multiple medication storage rooms, this space needed to be carefully engineered to meet a variety of needs.
The high-tech medical office building included 78 exam rooms, lab spaces, multiple procedure rooms, and an x-ray rooms. In addition to the complex architectural spaces and structural elements, we incorporated complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system designs to work within the space and address the user groups’ needs. Due to the project complexity and system infrastructure density, we coordinated pre-construction drawings with all of the contractors to ensure the building went up quickly and provided a flexible space that can accommodate the changing needs of the physicians and patients.
