The Challenge

OSF St. Anthony Medical Center was in need of more intensive care unit (ICU) rooms in order to meet demand, as well as a dedicated burn unit. The hospital decided they wanted to convert a section of their existing, standard patient treatment rooms into new ICU rooms. To make this conversion possible, each room needed a new private attached restroom, room layout reconfigurations, and system upgrades to support the more complex hospital spaces.

KEDbluestone Solution

We upgraded the systems to accommodate the new ICU room equipment, ventilation, and plumbing needs. Twelve new ICU rooms were created, all designed to include an attached restroom. We also designed a new burn unit treatment room with specialized color-changing lighting and speaker systems, for improved patient comfort during treatment. Attached to the burn unit treatment room, is a larger-than-average attached restroom, allowing plenty of space for patient burn care. As a result, St. Anthony Medical Center now has more ICU rooms to better accommodate demand, as well as a dedicated burn unit for improved patient care abilities.
