St. Jude Church considered renovating, however, after finding a series of costly issues within their facility, it became clear that building a new facility would be a better investment. However, the church decided to keep the existing, attached church education building, adding complexity to the design. Acoustics were a project challenge, as it is difficult to have such large, open spaces that accommodate so many people, but still ensure the service can be heard by all. Additionally, the church wanted to design the new sanctuary to be larger than the existing one, to accommodate more patrons.
The new cathedral was designed to house 200 more seats than the previous one, better meeting the needs of the parish. We paid close attention to the equipment placements in our designs and worked with the architect to ensure the acoustics would accommodate services. The new cathedral was designed with entirely separate MEP/FP systems from the education building, reducing complexity of system routing and maintenance. As a result, St. Jude Church now has a new, modernized facility that will accommodate their growing congregation and is an investment that should eliminate the need for emergent, costly repairs.
We will be glad to answer your questions.
We look forward to working with you.
