The Challenge

Elmwood Community School District 322 recently underwent a major facility renovation and addition. Upgrades to its HVAC systems and related automated controls resulted in excessive operation of the dedicated outdoor air system, inconsistent control of exhaust systems and poor or conflicting temperature control in occupied areas.

KEDbluestone Solution

We provided retro-commissioning services on the upgraded HVAC equipment and controls—evaluating construction documentation plans and conducting onsite functional testing with the district’s controls contractor responsible for the building. This effort simplified HVAC control sequences, resulting in more efficient system operation and reduced energy usage. In areas where control sequence modifications were not the answer, we recommended adding supplemental or modifying existing HVAC systems to improve performance and temperature control.
