The Challenge
The project involved a major addition and system-wide HVAC upgrade at Kenneth Bailey Elementary School. The scope included approximately 15,000 square feet of new space featuring eight classrooms, a gymnasium, and restrooms, along with full plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, and electrical design services. In addition to the new construction, the existing school required a comprehensive HVAC replacement while maintaining functionality in an active educational environment. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate new and existing building systems while improving comfort, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

We delivered a coordinated MEP/T design solution that addressed both the new addition and the full building HVAC modernization. The team designed a new hydronic heating system paired with vertical unit ventilators with DX cooling to provide consistent comfort across all classrooms. Careful system integration ensured the new and existing spaces operated cohesively while meeting current performance and code requirements. The result was a modernized, efficient, and reliable learning environment with improved occupant comfort throughout the facility.
