The Challenge

Built in four phases starting in 1957 and ending in 1960, Rolling Acres hadn’t seen many updates in the decades since. Administrators needed additional square footage to accommodate a larger student population, particularly in the cafeteria and gymnasium. Staff were forced to set up and tear down tables for lunch every day, an inefficient use of space and resources.

KEDbluestone Solution

As part of a cafeteria and gymnasium addition, we installed HVAC, lighting, plumbing and fire protection systems for the school’s upgraded kitchen and new serving line — including a make-up air unit to provide fresh air and a grease exhaust hood to help ensure the safe grilling and frying of food. We also added an indoor air-handling unit to cool the now-larger gym and installed an access-control system on all of the school’s doors for increased security.
