Designing a New Dialysis Treatment Center
THE CHALLENGE The Proctor Professional Building needed to renovate its existing basement space into a new dialysis treatment center. The ceiling height brought challenges, as
Grace United Methodist Church’s Education building was experiencing control issues due to an outdated, failing boiler. This resulted in uncomfortable temperatures for children and staff. In addition to the aging boiler, the building’s HVAC system was also very difficult to operate as whole. The thermostats directly controlled the hot water valves, which is not a typical design standard.
Our design included the addition of DDC controls, which accommodated the unique thermostat-to-hot-water-valves system and also mitigated the need for constant operation. We replaced the boiler with a pair of new high efficiency condensing boilers, ensuring a more efficient and effective HVAC system. As a result, Grace United Methodist Church’s Education building now maintains comfortable temperatures all year-round, with hands-off operation, and reduced utility costs.
