The Challenge

The Ottumwa Community School District Early Childhood Center was a purpose-built facility to meet the growing need for a dedicated Pre-Kindergarten space. The district sought to incorporate energy-efficient solutions while managing budget constraints. To achieve this, they aimed to take advantage of MidAmerican Energy’s Commercial Incentives program to offset the higher initial costs of energy-efficient systems.

KEDbluestone Solution

Our engineering team worked closely with the district, architect, and MidAmerican Energy to identify energy-efficient strategies for the facility. After several collaborative meetings, the decision was made to implement a geothermal heat pump system for HVAC. We designed the well field, specified the heat pumps, and managed the hydronic piping and control systems to ensure optimal energy performance and cost-effectiveness.
