This project involved the renovation of an existing medical office building on 86th Street in Urbandale to consolidate multiple UI Health Care clinics into a single, centralized location. The design needed to bring together a wide range of adult and pediatric specialty services while supporting privacy and sensitive patient experiences, including separating circulation paths and entrances for different patient groups. Transforming an older building into a cohesive, modern healthcare environment while accommodating diverse clinical programs and improving patient flow presented a complex planning and infrastructure challenge.
KEDbluestone provided MEPT engineering services to support the comprehensive renovation and completed system upgrades required to unify multiple medical specialties. The team coordinated building systems to align with the new layout, supporting specialized medical spaces such as labs, pharmacy areas, and treatment rooms while maintaining flexibility for evolving care needs. Through careful integration with the architectural vision, the design enhances patient comfort, improves care coordination, and supports a centralized model that expands access to high-quality healthcare services in the Des Moines area.
