The Challenge

Van Wall’s new facility presented the challenge of designing a versatile MEP system for a mixed-use space that includes a 47,000-square-foot maintenance shop with a large 60’ x 20’ entry door for heavy equipment. Additionally, the 20,000 square feet of service, sales, and parts storage needed effective climate control, all while minimizing energy costs.

KEDbluestone Solution

KEDbluestone delivered an efficient design featuring in-floor heating with electric boilers for consistent warmth and a ventilation system with large, low-velocity fans to cool the maintenance shop in summer without air conditioning. Two 50 kW wind turbines were strategically added to reduce the building’s heating and cooling electrical load, supporting sustainable operations for the facility year-round.
